Today story is a story out of Trenton, MO that deserves justice! If you have any information on the death of Tanner Ward, please contact your local police department or the Trenton Police Department at (660) 359–5557.
Tanner Ward was was 19 when he went missing in 2017, he was a father to a precious baby girl, and was engaged to be married when he vanished into thin air in Trenton, Missouri. What happened to him has been ruled a suicide but if you’ve read or learned about his case in ANYWAY you think otherwise. Tanner Ward and his family deserve justice and this case deserves to be looked at and opened again to finally get the answers and justice the family deserves.
The ad in our podcast this week was from the Uninformed Banker!
If you’ve been reading along with Chris Lamberts updates on the Kristin Smart case against Paul and Ruben Flores you know that Chris Lambert (the host of the Your Own Backyard podcast) got called to testify which meant that halted all writing and reporting he was able to do for anyone trying to follow the preliminary hearing on his blog Hallway Blog. You can still find the first 6 days on the blog but after that was when he had to halt all reporting.
They are thinking that the prelims are to last the whole month of August and it’s unknown at the time if Chris Lambert will be back to report on his blog or not – but after some googling I was about to find a few things they have talked about since his reporting has halted.
According to an article on KSBY they said that one of the cadaver dogs, Cholla, gave one of the strongest alerts the handlers have ever seen when searching Paul’s dorm room. Specifically the mattress and the desk.
After re-searching the whole building and removing the mattress the dog was brought back into the room and hit on the bed frame and desk again.
Another article posted by KSBY talked about how a witness stated she had heard Paul Flores discuss Kristin and was quoted saying “Hudson says she was hanging out with a group of people in June of 1996 when they heard a public announcement on the radio asking for information about Kristin Smart’s disappearance. She says Paul used a derogatory term to refer to Kristin and said, “I’m done playing with her and I put her out underneath my ramp in Huasna.”
Hudson asked their friend about it to be sure but the friend told Hudson that “Paul told tales all the time” and not to worry about it.
Following the preliminary hearing – that again will most likely last the whole month of August – the judge will decide whether there is enough evidence in the case against Paul and Ruben to move forward to trial. Which we are hoping is the case.
TO FOLLOW THIS CASE while Chris Lamberts blogging / reporting is on hold you can follow KSBY’s Megan Healy since she is in the courtroom and will have updates on KSBY.com as they become available.
AS USUAL if you have any information on the case please head to kristinsmart.org or yourownbackyardpodcast.com and report them there – and please feel free do donate to the Kristin Smart Scholarship to honor and remember Kristin.
HOW did I get halfway through the week and just now realize I didn’t write about last episode? LOL #SendHelp But better late than never so here I am – you’re welcome.
This week we talk about Russel and Shirley Dermond – a couple who retired, well loved and unfortunately murdered in their home and the crime was unlike any other. And as of this day it remains unsolved.
They were an adorable couple, had children, lots of friends and were retired and living their best life. When they didn’t show up for a Kentucky Derby party their friends got concerned and went to check on them and what they found was horrifying.
Yessss I love me a good haunting and this one I had never heard of before! The Whaley Mansion!
Isn’t it neat! And haunted! LOL It’s in San Diego, California and it’s now a museum you can visit anytime you’re near! How fun, right?
Neither of us had ever heard this one before and it’s a lot simpler of a tale than the Winchester House but it’s still a neat one to hear nonetheless! Nothing wrong with a little haunting and a few ghosts!
ALSO – something fun! We’ve got a Digital Download Halloween coloring book on our website now! It’s fun and geared towards adults but children can dolor it too if they’re looking for a harder book to color.
This case drives me INSANE and I remember it so much – where is Brian Schaffer? How can one person just disappear? No traces – nothing. Where did he go? Is he dead? Alive? Hiding? WHERE IS BRIAN SCHAFFER?!
This episode is short and to the point – because it’s one of those that needs to be and also because Ashli does this one on her own. That’s right folks – Eric is gone this week! Boooooo!
So I picked a case that drives me mad – and that’s the case of Brian Schaffer and his disappearance. It’s one that I’ve always wondered if we will ever solve. I feel like there’s more we don’t know but you’ll hear it in this episode. Let’s discuss!

Todays story is kind of a haunting and kind of a history lesson – we talk about the Winchester Mystery House! Sarah Winchester made this house what it is today – but why? Well – let us tell you!
I want to go here SO BAD and take the tour – they offer two so of course I think I need to take both – but I would LOVE to do this one day! It’s so fascinating to see and it would be amazing to see the rooms and how it’s built – it’s so cool!
So enjoy the Winchester House episode and let us know what you think!
